Do I have a family coat of arms?
This is a question that people
often ask us. Quite often we
cannot provide an answer because
we are not in a position to
know. However we do actually
possess a large number of seal
impressions that we have
manufactured over the past 85
years. We also have numerous
heraldic reference books,
including “de Rietstap”,
containing many pictures of
coats of arms from both home and
abroad.
We can search for a family coat
of arms under the given name,
but we cannot establish whether
you actually belong to that
family. In order to find out you
will have to contact the Central
Bureau for Genealogy (http://www.cbg.nl).
The CBG forms part of the Royal
Library in The Hague and is the
only official body that can give
decisive answers to your
questions. We strongly advise
you to visit the Bureau as you
will no doubt be surprised at
the amount of information at
their disposal.
If you learn that your family
does not have a coat of arms
then you can always decide to
have one designed. We would be
delighted to assist. Working
together we will make a design
that complies with the heraldic
rules and that can be submitted
to the committee of the CBG for
registration.
For registration and information
on registration costs please
contact the CBG.

examples of designs that we have
made for our customers in the
past.
